I May Have A Problem

I really enjoy drinking Coke.

When I was pregnant with the twins, I only allowed myself a sip of Coke every once in a while because I was terrified of being dehydrated and going into preterm labor. Once the babies were born, I tried to maintain my limited Coke and caffeine intake. Coca-Cola definitely isn't recommended for nursing mothers.

Well, my "sips" of Coke have snowballed into a can of Coke every day (sometimes I can go two days). I am not proud of this, and I know it can't be good for me. The fact that I have a "problem" was confirmed when I went to the grocery store and saw this:
16 ounces of canned Coke! AMAZING. Cans are the best way to drink soda and sometimes 12 ounces isn't enough.

Thoughts like these made me realize that I should work on walking away from Coke and all forms of soda. I know it isn't good for me, I know I don't want my kids to drink it, and I know I need to set a good example.

So, I'm going to put my Coke cans down and walk away from caffeine.

Wish me luck?

  1. Good luck with that. I know that I could not have survived the last 3 months while Doug was gone without it. I applaud your stength!

  2. Dr. Pepper is my weakness. I could drink a six pack a day. I can't just have a sip, so I've had to cut them out completely. The first couple of weeks are the hardest, but after that, you'll be fine.

  3. Every time I see someone, including myself attempt to banish something completely they eventually crash harder than before they had the "problem". There are worse things you could be doing. Maybe just treat yourself only to 1 can on a weekend or special event (since it will be there calling your name).

  4. You can do it!!! No lie, I watched a Biggest Loser episode yesterday about the sugar in Coke......Oh...My...GOSH! No wonder our bodies can become dehydrated. I hope you keep up with it.

  5. I agree with your friend; try to just have one every once in awhile. When my sister was trying to quit, she switched to caffeine free for a bit. I don't know if you only like the caff kind? Also, I seriously suggest using a straw to drink it if you already aren't. It deteriorates your teeth terribly! Teeth are expensive, dude. Using a straw keeps it off your teeth a bit better than without. Best of luck, my friend! And could you tell me how to quit biting my nails if you become successful at quitting habits??
