Last Sunday, our friend Mark told us about the book "The 90-Minute Baby Sleep Program: Follow Your Child's Natural Sleep Rhythms for Better Nights and Naps." The basic premise of the book says this: your baby needs to sleep for 90 minutes and then be awake for 90 minutes throughout the day. Mark's nephew has been on this routine since he was a week old and is now a happy three-month-old who seldom cries. Nathan and I decided to implement this plan into our nonexistent baby schedule, and it has been revolutionary! Who would have thought something so seemingly simple would have such amazing results.
Although this has not solved the problem of Eliza's acid reflux and possibly milk allergy, she nevertheless is sleeping more. Every time she fusses, it is almost 90 minutes precisely since her last nap. We swing her for a few minutes and she is out! That NEVER happened before. We'd rock and swing for hours (literally) and nothing. After she has slept the allotted time, we wake her up and feed her. Sometimes, she still wants to sleep and is adorably groggy, but eventually she becomes alert. And then, the timer starts again.
The past few days have been much more peaceful. I highly recommend this program. Check out this article if you're interested.
